lapsing into sleep and lapsing into awake
shining awhile
now drunk
now serious as kitchen tile
He tipped back in his chair and I imagined myself
acting nonchalant about it but laughing
uncontrollably
if he fell
then I imagined the whole world knows my imaginings
got scared
serious, then drunk again silly
and opted to drift into the fluff peeking out of
the pillow holes
and sleep ,awkwardly, inside it

Containedwires have less binding power
geysers less heat
if I were wood could I stop the current
electric realm of need in me
sugar water that holds back sweet

a hummingbird behind glass
and you the flower
just fallen, red,
and lying in the grass

if I had the wisdom of restraint
the chill
a wedge in the wheel of passion
I have pegs through my wings
tacks in my feathers
but still torrid, flapping

Time BombAre we uprooted, upside down
falling apart
spilling out
or just turning around, roots coming one by one unbound,
Are the rings between us gold, washed
and metamorphosized
or the common kind
that split apart, fray as they twine
are we parallel but towards each other
always turning,
or just tangled and repetitiously burning
are we two snakes with Love’s skin to shed?
or the stakes through our hearts
the worms in our heads,
seed that could be viable
or only paper husks
as thin and dried as the courage between us
as wind-blown as our trust,
